Gameroom Decorating 101
Gamerooms can offer the opportunity to bring fun and whimsy or prestige and luxury into your home. It is one of the few places in your home where just about anything goes. Whether you are looking for a 50’s diner feel or a wood paneled cigar jacket wearing ambience, it can be accomplished with ease in a gameroom with a little planning.
The first step to proper planning and a successful outcome is to determine the needs your gameroom should fulfill for you and your family. Some things to consider:
How large is the space?
If using a garage, attic or basement will there be any heating or cooling issues that need to be included in the project?
How many people will be using the gameroom and what are their ages?
What are your favorite games? Do you want to play pool and table tennis or poker?
How do you want to feel in your gameroom?
Does the gameroom connect to and is it visible from another space in the home?
Do you plan to do a lot of entertaining for friends and family in the gameroom?
Do you need a space for playing board games or video games?
What is your budget for this project?
Do you already own some of the items for the room?
Even if you only have a small space available, you can still have a fun gameroom with proper planning and realistic expectations. For space saving, we recommend two tables for most gamerooms; a pool table and a multi use round or octagonal table. With a pool table as a base, conversion tops are available to add table tennis on top. You can also get a deluxe custom built pool table cover for under $300 that will turn the pool table into a perfect dining or buffet table. The multi use game table, often referred to as 3-in-1 or 8-in-1 depending on how many functions it serves, can come mostly in 2 shapes, with countless styles and colors. Generally they will include a base with bumper pool or a checkerboard for checkers and chess or a backgammon board.

Then there will be a second 2-sided piece that sits on top of that, converting the table into a card table with chip trays and a plain top on the other side. The plain side can be used for dining, board games or even homework...the options are endless.
